Breeding Goals:
We breed healthy, typful and good tempered cats. They should have a sympathy look and temperament. For the owner it should be a pleasure to live with them and fun to watch them. Our troop of cats is very addicted to us and they like to cuddle a lot. We want to inherit this to our offspring. For this the socialization is one of our topics. Right from the start, the kittens will get used to all sounds of a normal household. We spend much time playing with the kittens and the grown cats, so they stay playful and well-balanced. We are convinced of that the friendly and calm tempers of the Maine Coon can be enrichment to everyone.

Health is another topic of our breeding program. We see the health of our cats as our responsibility. All of the cats are tested on the following – before their first mating: HD (Hip Dysplasia), HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathie – Ultrasound & DNA) and PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease). HD will be diagnosed by x-ray and sent to OFFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals). Every 18 months we visit our cardiologist to ultra sound the hearts and kidneys of the cats. The DNA test is done only once. Most of these tests are only a snapshot. Therefore it is important to repeat the ultra sounds. We work with living creatures – so there is no guarantee at all. We cannot look into our cats, but we can minimize the risk of diseases with testing.

Our kittens are 14 weeks old, when leaving their home. They have all their shots and know how the litter box is working. We only sell kittens with a written contract, pedigree and a health certificate from our vet. Cats that go to a “pet-home” will be spayed or neutered before leaving. We do this to provide the new owners from unwanted kittens. While the kitten is sleeping it will be chipped also, so it won’t hurt too much. As soon as the kittens are well again, they can move to their new family. If you give us a short call or drop us a note, we will be pleased if you would come and visit us and the cats.
